HOWARD C. RASMUSSEN
STERLING-Howard C. Rasmussen, 95, died, Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Good Neighbor's, Sterling, on his 72nd wedding anniversary to his wife Laurel. He was a self employed farmer and had owned and operated a feed and elevator business in Tampico.
Howard was born April 8, 1917 in Tampico, the son of Carl and Cecille (Breed) Rasmussen.
He married Laurel Matthews on August 16, 1940 at The Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and the Ancient Accepted and Free Masonic Lodge # 293, Prophetstown, since 1948. He was involved in real estate, a land developer and contractor, he also enjoyed golfing and spending time with family.
Survivors include, his wife, Laurel; one daughter, Karen (Richard) Palmer of Sterling; two sons, Gary (Joyce) Rasmussen of Homosassa, FL and Stanley (Nancy) Rasmussen of Rock Falls; eight grandchildren, Adam (Patti) Palmer, Rachel (Matt) Bollinger, Ryan (Kara) Palmer, Troy (Mary) Rasmussen, Tiffani (Jeff) Behrens, Tonya (Shawn) Stallion, Anne (Greg) Wurth and David Rasmussen and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother Thomas Rasmussen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, August, 18, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Sterling, with the Pastor Nancy Weingartner, pastor, officiating. Masonic Graveside services will be held at the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM Saturday, prior to services at the church.
A memorial has been established to Wesley United Methodist Church.
