What a blessing to have shared smiles and time with Faye and all of you. She was always so radiant and her sense of humor and joy of life clearly showed through her frustration of things not being "the same". I only heard her playing one time, but was moved by her talent and the way she could "make the piano talk". Thank you for sharing her with mom (Dee) and me. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May the wonderful memories of her life and love for all of you give you comfort and peace.
Sincerely and in Christian love,
Sunny Porter

Aunt Faye: She had me come accross the street to where she and grandpa Jesse lived while I was attending first grade at Merrill School in Rock Falls, IL and serve me noon meals, better than shool lunches. I was the ring bearer at her wedding. Many years later she and her husband, George, attended my wedding in Momence, Ill. Always cordial and welcoming and with a smile. Many family reunions gave us time to catch up on family news. She gave me a lot of new cousins, many who were born after I was away from the Sterling area and I did not get to really know them as well as I would have liked to (Your mom had a big impact on my life). I had bonded to her mother, Alice, my grandmother, and was deeply troubled at the loss of my grandma, Aunt Faye, more than anyone else, gave comfort to me when I was too young to understand. Aunt Faye, whom I had a great admiration for, will be greatly missed.

I grew up knowing and respecting Faye Hadley, but never knew her first name until decades later when I was privileged to serve as her associate pastor. As a child growing up in Sterling First Church of the Nazarene, I only knew her as "Sister Hadley." That was fitting because to be called "Sister" in those days carried the twin connotations of respect and recognition as a Christian woman. In fact, even as one of her pastors, I never called her by her first name, only "Sister Hadley." She truly was a Christian women deserving of the title. My own mother has been in heaven since 2003. They were friends, and can now get reacquainted. What a glorious reunion awaits us all who know and love the Lord Jesus; "and so shall we ever be with the Lord" (I Thessalonians 4:17).
