My deepest condolences to the Prescott family. Bob and Jan made a big influence in my life. I never knew such generosity and true humanity as Bob and Jan. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, and they will both be truly missed not only in the community of Sterling Illinois, but in the hearts of many people that were touched by Bob and Jan's true sincerity and generosity.

TO THE PRESCOTT FAMILY: We would like to express our sympathy to each and everyone of you and let you know what a great father you had and that we are so sorry we are unable to be there to show our respect and say our last farewell to him. So many memories (I'm sure you have heard them many, many times). Our friendship spanned 50 years and we couldn't be prouder than to call him one of our best friends ever. He was Best Man at our wedding and as far as we are concerned he was the best man ever.
Please take comfort in knowing he will be missed by so many and that he is still with you in your hearts. I (Sue) am happy I got to spend some time with your Dad when I was in Sterling last month. I even got to give him a farewell hug the day I left. Little did I know it would be the last chance to do that. Again, we are sorry we are unable to be there but know our hearts are with you all the way from Arizona.

Godspeed, Bob. I will always fondly remember you and Jan for giving me my first job, and entrusting me with the many responsibilities and real world experiences I needed as a teen. You never demanded perfection, but you expected accountability and responsibility. As with any business, the customer came first in most cases, but I also saw you staunchly stand up for your employees and other customers when a customer was in the wrong. Your spirit will live on not only in your children and their families, but also in those of us lucky enough to work with you and know you. Rest in peace.

I was blessed to work for Bob at the downtown Candelight Inn for 16 years. Not only was he a fantastic and caring boss but also a genuine caring friend.
