I have known Larry for almost thirty years. Started when he and Bev volunteered with the Marshall County Tourist Commission as hosts and advocates at Boat and Travel shows. They lived just down the road from our little branch of the local Bank in Aurora. I worked there and Larry and I started a long friendship. He was always upbeat and there was always a "project" or a "trip". We shared many "Sea Stories" of our time in the Navy. He came into the bank one day and said I need to finance this house down by the lake and I am going to renovate it and flip it. Larry was 80 years old at that point. He bought the house and worked diligently every day. I would stop by on the way home and watch a craftsman work. He had stories to tell, jokes to share and advice on how to live a life of service and just plain fun. He was so proud of his family and shared many a story of his life. Never too "old" to do anything. Trips with his daughters and learning how to use his new Ipad, seeing his grandson graduate from the Naval Academy and sharing those on that Ipad. He was a great man and a good friend. Fair Winds and Following Seas Larry. We have the watch. Russ Claborn

Larry was our lake neighbor for 25 years or more. He was a great friend who would help anybody at anytime. Always talked of his family that he was so proud of. We had a lot of good times together. All very good memories even though he was a Cubs fan. Thanks for sharing him with us.

Randy and I love Larry! He has been such a great friend to us in the last 19ys. He made our bar downstairs with his own painting of a lighthouse and nautical look. He did an outside wooden porch. he painted us his own Kentucky lake picture that we display proudly. He will be truly missed but we know we will see him again. I hope he and Bev are having GREAT times back together. He lived in his retirement home on Kentucky lake by us. We all loved him and will never forget him. He was talented, funny and caring. He would do anything for you. He was blessed with such a great family and he loved them all. He was a proud man of his family. God be with you all and we can only dream of living a life as full as Larry's was. Prayers for the whole family! Randy and Karen Martin from Ky.

I am so sorry to hear of Larry's death. You know it doesnt matter how long we have our parents.....and you were lucky to have him for so long...but it still hurts...big time.
I have very fond childhood memories of the Berge family. My father and Larry were friends and Larry was always helping my dad with a project. I picture him with a nail apron, a hammer, a cap and a pencil behind his hear.
John likes to recall the time my dad and Larry left him on a roof when he was just a kid...probably to get a beer...LOL funny now right?
I agree with the others here that Larry and Bev always made you feel like they liked you...always smiling and laughing.
Good people........will be missed by many.

My heart just sank when I heard of Larry's passing. I grew up next to Bev and Larry and their family. My childhood was so much fun because of them. To this day, I still hear their laugh just as clear as if everyone is sitting on the front porch afterwork having a cold beer. (The adults not the kinds) These two always had time for you and fun was their middle name. Cars, boats, snowmobiles, jetskis, airplanes you name it, if it was associated with fun they had it and would share with anyone.
Thank you Bev and Larry for all of your love, your time and fun you gave, my childhood was better because you were in it and my heart is bigger now because of all of the love and memories you left for me.
Love you always,
Buckshot
