Ruben was my neighbor and good friend. When I moved into my condo as a single woman who knew very little about how to fix or repair anything,whenever I had a question about anything I knew I could count on Ruben. I loved his landscaped yard so he planted me one to match his since both of our condos were on the corner entrances. He advised me on how to take care of all the different plants. I will always remember the work ethics he taught his grandchildren,Logan and Olivia. He would have them pull weeds for me after he instructed and at first supervised them. As a retired teacher I was very impressed. Children this age didn’t like to do manual work,but their grandfather wanted to make sure they had an understanding that things weren’t just handed to them they had to work for it. Logan and Olivia were also very well mannered modeled after their grandfather’s behavior. I remember when they were finished weeding they would ring my doorbell and show me their bucket of weeds they had picked before I paid them. When I would asked what I owed them they would just reply,”Whatever you feel is fair.” He was also the President of our HOA which was a lot of hours of unpaid work. He kept us all very well informed plus did a lot of the repairs for our condos himself to save us money. If you were lucky enough to have known Ruben Moreno,you know what a very special caring,loving man he was. I think daily about what a terrible loss for Ruben’s wonderful family. Thank you for sharing him with me.

Ruben was such a kind and thoughtful person. Both of us being avid golfers, we would be at Emerald Hill quiet often. I would see him on the practice range all the time. He practiced far more than I did and I always felt I really couldn't expect to be as consistent as him because I didn't put in the time he did. We were playing in the Emerald Hill Club Championship and he was having one of those days that most of us have, no matter how hard we work at it, nothing seemed to be working for him and he was very frustrated. Believe me I felt his pain. But in the course of the round, I was struggling with my putting. This was not unusual for me. But Ruben noticed that as I was putting the ball I was moving my head with my stroke and pulling off the putt. He made mention of it to me and I made the adjustment and it worked quiet well. My putting has been much better ever since.
When most would be self absorbed in their own problems, he took the time to help me solve mine. It just shows what type of person he was. I'm sure that is the way he was in his everyday life as well, caring about others no matter what he was personally dealing with. He is one of the fine human beings that this world needs more of, especially now, and he will be sorely missed. Love to you, Yollie and to the Moreno family.

Condolences to the Moreno family. I met Ruben in senior year of high school. He was a fellow worker at NWSW,fellow Vietnam veteran and friend. Shared the Honor Flight 44 with him. He sat behind me on the plane and next to me on the bus as we rode around DC. RIP. Till we meet again. Ron Anderson.

I didn't know Ruben long but the short time I did we became good friends. He was my neighbor and my golf buddy. I will miss hearing his great stories and his endless energy. It was true pleasure knowing him. My prayers and condolences to his family, he will greatly missed.
