My condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Zimmerman. I saw his memory card today when I stopped in to pick up peaches at Blue Freedom Farmers Market while in Sterling this week. We lived on the same block in the 70's. He was a always such a kind man and I was always happy to run into him. Every once in awhile I would stop to talk to Lyle and Mr. Zimmerman would be in his garage or yard. He kept the yard and garage in tip top shape. May he rest in peace.

We met Lyle and Bea through Larry. ..Larry was Scott's student teacher. Both Lyle and Bea were so welcoming and became good aquaintances. Loved Lyle's sense of humor. Enjoyed many cranberry juice with him. He would always bring the girls Gummie bears wrapped in duct tape. One had a smiley face and the other daughter always got the frowny face. To this day Lyle still sent my frowny face daughter a package of Gummie bears and a letter addressed to someone he was playing a prank on. She would mail his letter from her zip code so that person would not know who it was from. We couldn't have had two nicer people in our life. Keep them smiling in heaven Lyle. Will miss your visits.

I would pull into Blue Freedom's Lot with the Semi, and if Lyle was there I always got a greeting and a kind word. He was a kind soul and good to me and Karis. Denny Saam, Chugiak, Alaska (Former Blue Fredom Driver)

Very sorry to hear of Lyles passing. I worked for him at Lohse Auto in the early 80's. He was a wonderful person to work for and be around. You have my deepest sympathies.

Just got to Sterling and heard of Mr. Zimmerman's passing. I was sad to hear it, but it brought back many fond memories of my "formative tears". I had many great times at the Zimmerman household, especially during my high school and college days. Mr. Zimmerman took me to my first pro football game (Da Bears beat my Packers-Boo!), and drove me to my first rock concert (Ted Nugent-Mr. Zimmerman did not participate). He will certainly be missed! Thought and prayers to the Zimmerman family, especially Lyle, Larry, and Teri

Words cannot express the loss I feel without Papa around..he was there for me for everything in my life. He held me all day long when I was 10 months old and had a case of the chickenpox. He was always there for me to talk to after my Dad passed away. He taught me how to drive in his two door red pickup truck. He brought me to the dmv to get my license. He was at my high school graduation, and every thing in between. He has been my best friend, for as long as I can remember, we even were going to start a restoration business together. L&J Restorations. I loved going to his house and seeing Papa and Grandma as a kid. Being at his house always brought me so much comfort and peace. A place I've called my home away from home for 25 years. I'll miss my Papa more and more as each day passes. His memory will stay with me forever, and I thank God we were able to share the time we did, when we did it. I love you Papa!

I will miss my Uncle Lyle so much; he was my mom Dorothy's youngest brother. From the time I was a little girl we always shared a special bond - his nickname for me was Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, and he was the only one allowed to call me that. He even addressed my birthday cards that way! He was a very special person and his passing is going to leave a huge void in my life. Keeping my cousins Lyle, Larry and Teri close in my heart and prayers.

I was best friends with Teri and spent many days and nights at the Z’s house! Mr. and Mrs. Z were always so good to me. Mr. Z loved to tease me about any and everything. He gave me a cabbage patch doll when they were all the rage and impossible to get. My deepest condolences to Lyle, Debbie, Larry, Teri and all the grandchildren!

I am the youngest sister of Art and Ken Kraft. I was around 4 years old when Lyle was at our house a lot. I always remember him being so kind to me and joking with me. I have always loved him. He was such a good man. My husband and I shared the same wedding anniversary and we used to meet with Lyle and Bernice at the White Pines restaurant After Bernice passed, we continued to do so, but missed last summer because of the pandemic. We were hoping to meet this summer somewhere else because the restaurant closed. I am so sorry that Lyle is gone. What a big heart he had. Diana Kraft
