Obituary of Henry Lira

IOWA CITY- Henry Lira, 60, of Sterling died Thursday May 20, 2021 at University of Iowa. Henry was born July 15, 1960 the son of Juan and Josephine (Sandoval) Lira. He married Lisa Vos on May 17, 2014 in Sterling. Henry worked for Sterling Public Schools in the maintenance department for 28 years until his retirement in 2015. He enjoyed golfing, basketball, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife Lisa; two sons Wes Bittner of Sterling, Zak (EmmaLea) Bittner of Rock Falls; one daughter Rachel (Athan) Bittner of Rock Falls; one brother David (Lonna) Lira of Sterling; two sisters Rosa (Geronimo) Rodriguez of Sterling, Maria (Omar) Aguilera of Phoenix; two grand-daughters Isabel Bittner, Iva Bittner; mother-in- law Faye Vos; brother-in-law Brian Vos; and many nieces and nephews. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Guadalupe Lira, Juan Luis Lira, and Jose Luis Lira; one sister Maria Lira. Visitation will be 4PM-7PM Tuesday May 25, 2021 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling. Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday May 26, 2021 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation with pastor John Lira, officiating.
