Janet Overmyer posted a condolence
Wednesday, June 26, 2024
My name is Janet Overmyer. I live in South Amherst, Ohio and I was just cleaning out a drawer filled with souvenir spoons and found a wooden spoon with Mr. Linscheid's name and address tied to it. The word "Buckthorn" and some symbols were carved on the back. I had to investigate. I found Mr. Linscheid's obituary online. I'm so sorry he is gone, but am happy he knew Jesus so I will meet him someday! From his obituary I learned what the marks on the back of the spoon stood for: Buckthorn is a type of tree and the other marks were his initials and date of carving - '04. Sterling, Illinois is close to where my parents, Bill and Grace Hills, retired to a farm in Lena, Illinois. I figured it must have been a gift from them years ago. They are gone now. I wonder if they knew your family. I was glad to learn a little about Mr. Linscheid from this obituary and my spoon will have more than an address attached to it now - a memory of a very special person.

Q: How would you describe Clayton to someone who had never met them?
A: I am one of the lucky teachers who got to work with Clayton at WAVC. We worked on many projects together. One of the projects was Clayton bringing his Electronic Students over to the Building Trades project house to assist with house wiring, (Clayton did most of the instructing and wiring). I also remember installing shingles on his house, and having the honor of viewing his famous wood carvings. He was a great man and will be missed by many.
