Obituary of Dick Fowler

   Richard “Dick” Fowler, 79, of Sterling passed away Tuesday March 21, 2023 surrounded by family.  Dick was born July 8, 1943 in Clinton IA the son of Clifford and June (Nixon) Fowler.  He married Cheryl Gregg on January 30, 1965 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2016. 

 

    Dick worked at NWSW for 37 years in the furnace department before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandkids and sipping on a cold Busch Light at his pool. The American Legion and Nicks Tap were both a big part of his life.  Dick and Cheryl were married for 51 years, and are now happily reunited.

 

   Survivors include one son Jeff (Yolie) Fowler of Galt; three daughters Stacie (Adam) Olson of Sterling, Dawn (Joe) Billings of Sterling, and Tammy Whaley of TX; one sister Debbie Lira of Sterling; ten grandchildren Sammi (Kyle) Nickels, Alli Olson, Nate Olson, Corey and Kyle Billings, Aaron (Ryan) Fowler, Brandon Fowler, Melissa, Allison and Jessica Kalinec; 10 great-grandchildren.

 

   Dick was also preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Carolyn Whaley.

 

   Cremation rites have been entrusted to Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, and a Celebration of Life will take place from 3PM-8PM Friday March 24, 2023 at Nicks Tap 

1301 Prophetstown Rd, Rock Falls, IL 6107. Dick was an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan please feel free to show your support by wearing team colors. 

 

   A memorial has been established.
