Leonard and I send our condolences to your family. So sorry we can’t be there in person, as we are living in Shipshewana IN the last 7 mos near our family, for our health concerns. Leonard spent his High School summers on the Haak farm, living with them, doing the farming while Melvin auctioneered Elaine was a wonderful cook and “ 2 nd mom during those teenage days he spent with them, in the summers. later in years and as recently as 2022, Melissa/ Elaine would call our home and sing Happy Birthday to Leonard on his birthday , June 30 th! What a treat that was! And now, God chose to take Elaine home on Len’s 87 th Birthday! We hold a SPECIAL place in our heart for Elaine and Melvin Haak family God Bless you all! Leonard / Darlene Mellinger PS Len always blamed his LOVE of ice cream from his stay at the Haak Farm he said, “ we had ice cream almost every meal… well, at least twice a day!” Hey Brothers ice cream, from the Penrose Store! He was hooked!
