I had always wondered what became of this man after I had graduated and left Constantine. I’ll never forget my first experience in his class. Watching him blow a lid off a can, simple dust explosion demonstration I think. The lid went clear up to the ceiling! He was one of the stand outs at Constantine. Class act guy. Thank you sir for your impact on my life.

Coach LeFevre was my 7th grade U S History and 8th grade Science Teacher, My Cross Country Coach in 1973 through the 1976 seasons and Track Distance Coach 1974-1977. We were petrified of him in the 6th grade, and my History interest tremendously increased as a 7th grader, but science was a struggle. "Mr. Clementz, list of 100 lines I will not sleep in Mr LeFevre 's Science class."
Hmmm...that was right about the time he started recruiting me to run Cross Country, which I fully intended to do and did. I went on to break School Records, become a College Runner, H.S. Social Studies Teacher, CROSS COUNTRY (36 years) and Track(30years) Coach. The EQUAL treatment of ALL of us regardless if a top runner or a slower runner always showed forth as well as the WELLBEING OF THE KID/ATHLETE! My program in Arizona reflected much of what I experienced at CHS in Coach E.N. Lefevre's program. When I began my Coaching career at the Middle School, Coach LeFevre was able and willing to point me in the right selection of the two best books I should be interested in as a Distance Coach. I hope in YOUR EYES I had what it took "TO CUT THE MUSTARD!" Teacher, Coach, Friend, THANK YOU COACH LEFEVRE for being who you were as you always set forth in your Coaching and Teaching.
Douglas E. Clementz CHS Cross Country and Track 1973-1977.

Mr. Lefevre was my eight grade history teacher, and he had to be one of my most favorite teachers ever at CHS. Very knowledgeable, and strict. He also didn't play favorites, something I respected him for. RIP TEACHER/COACH Lefevre.

Mr. Lefevre has been a part of the Fisher almost as long as I can remember. Grandma always called him the teacher and Grandpa called him Hook. We were NEVER allowed to refer to him Hook. It was expected that we were polite, and it was always Mr. Lefever. I think he had 8 of the ten grandchildren that went through Constantine Schools. I remember him coming home and taking those stairs 3 at a time. He would only have to take 3 or 4 steps to get to the top. We were not allowed to go in his room, but in the summertime, I would peek in his room. It had a bed and chair and walls lined with books. Lots of books. He would enter the house and greet us and continue upstairs. He usually ate at the Harvey House, but Grandma would invite him to a meal once in a while. He would watch TV with Grandpa, usually Gunsmoke, but if we came, he would quickly excuse himself, even though we would tell him not to go. He never wanted to interfere with family.
As a teacher, he did not treat us any differently than the other students. If you got in trouble with him; we really got in trouble at home. I remember the movie about the volcano, the mercury he passed around (can't do that today), and the rocks and minerals. We had to have our shirts tucked in. He was fun but did not put up with any monkey business. What I learned in class, helped me college. That would be 5 years later. I can't say that for any other class.
He made a great impact on many lives. My prayers and sincere condolences.

Mr. LeFevre was my middle school science teacher…and he was SO enthusiastic about teaching us! I can still hear him loudly say: “You can’t squeeze blood out of a turnip!” No doubt, he positively influenced me—and so many others—to go into science. Thank God Mr. LeFevre!

Elwin was my second cousin through Elizabeth Ann Frey 1866-1966 my grand aunt. Elwin joined our Frey family reunions and graced our gatherings with his unfailing superior knowledge of our Frey/LeFevere ancestry.
His contributions to world peace, education, and Christian service have made our world a better place, and without a doubt, we can say of him:
"There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me but also to all who have loved His appearing" (II Timothy 4:8 NASV).
We shall meet again at a greater family reunion!

Coach LeFevre was my 8th grade science teacher, assistant high school track coach, and the 1st teacher ever to throw me out of class. I came back to Constantine to teach and coach. It was because of him that I ran every workout with my middle school track team. I lasted until I was 54. Athletes want to know that you care about them & it helps too when they know you're not asking any more of them than you are of yourself. We became friends over the course of our 55 years together. He had a reputation for being frugal. At least once a year I would take him to a local restaurant and buy his supper. He really thought that was special. We would sit in the teacher's room and commiserate about our aches and pains as we both got older. He reminded me that growing old was not for sissies. I had a handful of teachers at CHS that had a tremendous influence on my life and he was one of them. He was a fine man and role model. Tombstones often have a dash between years and what you do with that dash means everything. Miss you coach, E. Strawser

Coach LeFevre was a HUGE impact on my life growing up. First off he was a great teacher and I truly respected him. First I respected him as a teacher and then as a role model. In the 8th grade he asked me if I'd be interested in running cross country for him in the fall of 69'. I said I would.... and the rest was history. So how did he influence me as a role model...??? The summer of 69' Coach LeFevre ran EVERY mile during practice as we all did. I discovered I enjoyed running and was good at it. But at the end of many practices we'd all race to the finish AND MR. LEFEVRE WAS TRYING TO WIN...!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. I was 14 and he was 39 and I struggled to beat him (if I did in 69'?). My point is this man DROVE me to better myself and his determination to push me worked. I did better myself quickly and competed at a high level due to his guidance thoughout H.S. I went to state championships in cross county and track with him at my side many times. This man was truly an inspiration to many people and I was PROUD to enter the Constantine Hall of Fame along with him.... He totally deserved it. I'll always miss ya Coach as long as I live.... Mr. LeFevre is the reason I remember that pyrite is fool's gold. He had a memorable way of saying, "pyrite, fool's gold," that sticks in my mind to this day. I liked Mr. LeFevre as my 8th grade science teacher in 1978-79. He seemed strict and serious, but that was okay with me. The twinkle in his eye belied his stern tone.
My sympathy for his family left here behind.

Coach Lefevre is one who I will always remember urging us to run faster and stick to it. He was a stickler for sure but he cared about his students and athletes. As a science teacher he made learning fun and I will never forget his famous words as we all hovered over those Bunsen burners, “bubble baby bubble!” May he rest in peace now, knowing how many lives he touched through his teaching and coaching! God bless!

Mr. LeFevre was my science teacher in my 8th grade year in Constantine, MI. This would have been around 1979. My family had just moved to Michigan and I was the new kid who didn't know anyone and didn't really want to be there. However, I had a voracious appetite for knowledge, and Mr. LeFevre turned out to be one of those generational educators who fed my mind and challenged me to dig deeper. His impact upon my life was profound and I will be forever grateful for his service in that small town.

Was one of the most unique, interesting and centered teachers in our school who urged his students to stop shutting off their brains, recognize not only what in front of your eyes, but all around you, never act superior, but never sell yourself short...and keep that body moving while you keep learning!
With a tilted head grin when you did good.

I was in one of Coach LeFevre’s first students at Constantine, History in 7th grade, 1959. He was a great guy and I had the good fortune to have him as a coach in track and to later on be his athletic director. Many called him hook LeFevre because he had this great hook shot that he could shoot with either hand while playing basketball. He was a very conservative man who walked most places, always ran with his cross country teams and cared about his students and student athletes. As athletic director after he had retired, I had a large rock placed on the edge of the cross country course with a plaque placed on it commemorating his time in Constantine and we named the course after him. He is in our Hall of Fame. What I will remember most is He never wanted to be in the spotlight and he always did things the right way and followed all the rules. Also he really enjoyed eating. He was wonderful for Constantine and all the kids he helped.
My very best to his remaining family.
