Obituary of Donald Stralow

DONALD WAYNE STRALOW STERLING - Donald Wayne Stralow, 83, died Monday, February 25, 2013 at Coventry Living Center. He was employed for 28 years as a mold maker for Penberthy Manufacturing retiring in 1992. Donald was born March 29, 1929 in Sterling, the son of Henry and Alice (Hayen) Stralow. He married Marion A. Schultz on April 6, 1956 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2008. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1948-1952 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Donald volunteered at Christ Lutheran School and at the Christ Lutheran School Thrift Shop in Rock Falls for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, drag racing and listening to country & western and light classical music. Donald also liked to tinker around with his 1979 El Camino. He loved helping people in need. Donald was a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling. Survivors include his two close friends, Kenneth (Sharon D.) Kokoett and Bob (Joan R.) Richards, both of Sterling. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 1, 2013 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Patrick Pinion of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial with military rites will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 3-5 PM, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Funeral Home.
