I had the honor of working with Jim in several facilites over the years. His passion for life was so deep, along with the love of family. Jim had a way of showing calm confidence that always gave us nurses peace of mind when we worked with him. Sail on Captain, you will be missed and never forgotten. I worked with Jim at the Mendota Hospital. He was so very good at what he did, never got flustered, and was beyond organized. He was kind and direct in all things. And he glowed when he talked about his family and schnauzers!

I first met Jim through his hospital work. Later we bonded through our roles with the Navy and public service. From day 1 I knew I had met an extraordinary man of many dimensions. My admiration for him only grew more as I was around him. Jim was an outstanding officer, leader, health professional, public servant, husband, father, and human being. He was generous in every way. A strong man of high values, he was an example for all of us. Sue and I are devastated by the news of Jim's passing. He was a great friend, role model, and personal "hero" of mine. My respect for him was boundless. My memories of him will never fade. I was looking forward to seeing him when I got back home this week. I will keep your family in my prayers during this very difficult time. May he always have fair winds and following seas. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
