  Glenn Dancey, 79, of Sterling died Friday June 14, 2024 at OSF in Rockford, IL. Glenn was born May 18, 1945, the son of Glenn and Alene (Hapgood) Dancey. He married Gail Jahnke on July 11, 1970 in Berwyn IL. 

     Glenn was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sterling. He attended Harlem High
School in Loves Park. He attended Western Illinois University and graduated with a BS in Industrial Technology, and he also graduated from Northern Illinois University with an MS in Industrial Technology. He taught industrial arts at Challand Junior High at Community Unit District #5. Upon retirement from the school district, he worked for Self Help Enterprises for 10 years. Glenn’s hobbies included model cars, Lionel trains, tropical fish, several classic cars, and being a world traveler. He’s also known for his many trips to Kenya Africa through his church. With his son Grant he did other mission trips to other places in the United States. Glenn was also involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, the YMCA Indian Guides, and was past Master of the Sterling Masonic Lodge. 

   Survivors include his wife Gail; one son Grant (Carolyn) Dancey; two sisters Marilyn (Michael) Galligan of Machesney Park, IL and Sue Smith of Buckeye AZ; two grandsons Spencer and Robert Dancey.

   Cremation rites have been accorded, memorial service will be 11 AM July 6, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church in Sterling. Visitation will be from 9:30AM-11AM prior to the services at church. Burial will take place at a later date.

   A memorial has been established to the mission committee of First Presbyterian Church, and American Cancer Society.
