Obituary of Oliver Chase

OLIVER C. CHASE STERLING - Oliver C. Chase, 66, died Monday, March 18, 2013 at his home. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Company until his retirement. Oliver was born August 28, 1946 in Alexandria, MN, the son of John Wilson and Bernice Irene (Pontsler) Chase. Oliver attended the Rock River Christian Center in Rock Falls he often shared his love of music through song and his Martin guitar. He also enjoyed participating in community theater productions of "1776" and "Annie Get Your Gun". He was an avid reader of fine literature and a frequent visitor at the Sterling public library. Survivors include two daughters, Alexandra (Jared) Burge and Katherine Chase, both of Sterling; one sister, Lois (Kenneth) Helfrich of Dixon; two brothers, Donald Chase of Sterling and John Wilson (Beth) Chase, Jr. of Mount Morris; two grandchildren, Jody and Killian Burge; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling with Pastor Bryan Vickers of Rock River Christian Center, officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Rock River Christian Center, 1800 Prophetstown Road, Rock Falls. A memorial has been established.
