I am filled with sadness at the tragic news of Cheryl's death and extend my deepest sympathy at the loss of a your daughter and friend. Cheryl left as all with incredible memories of her spirit and character. I had the pleasure working with Cheryl at Acist (back in the day) What a spit fire she was! Full of heart and willing to work so hard, in her own way of course. She was a women who stood by her beliefs with clarity and honesty. I had the pleasure of meeting her on the ball field as well. What a spark. Made if fun to watch, just to see what she would come up with sometimes. I will always remember her Christmas card, sitting in the giant Chair. She will be a sadly missed by people who were lucky enough to get to know the true Cheryl and the friendship, humor and "grumpy" loveable part of her she had inside. My deepest sympathy.

As I have shared with my family the loss of my dear friend - as she was known here in MN, Grumpy - my aunt shared her favorite Grumpy story with me when Grumpy came to my family's Christmas about 5 years ago. We play a game at Christmas where everyone brings a $20 wrapped gift. The gifts go into the center of the room and we all draw numbers. When it's your turn, you can either take a gift in the middle of the room and open it, or steal a gift from someone that has already opened one if you want that particular gift. A gift cannot be "stolen" more than 3 times. When it was Grumpy's turn she stole the gift that she brought. Throughout the game, someone in my family ended up stealing it from her and she was trying to make deals with others members in my family, to work it to where she could steal the gift back again. My mom thought she did not understand the game and reminded her that she didn't have to take the gift she brought and Grumpy's response was, "but I really like the gift that I brought!" And she did go home with it that night! My family truly enjoyed having her around and every year after that would always extend the invitation for her to come to my family's holiday gatherings. With her family not being close by, please know that so many of us here in Minnesota made sure she did not spend holidays by herself.

I was so sorry to hear about the loss of Cheryl. We grew up together and were best friends and across the street neighbors up until high school. I wish our paths would have crossed again as adults. It's touching to read the loving messages from those who knew Cheryl. May peace be with Cheryl's family and dear friends at this very difficult time. With love, Pat

I've known you for years through softball but I really got to know you better this past summer as we started to spend more time together. I really enjoyed watching you interact not only with my 2 year old son but also with the other kids that were always around. Derek had a great time when we went to the fireworks together this summer. You pushed him around the fair in his stroller and then later you let him sit on the seat of your motorcycle. He still has the light up wand you bought him :) I will miss how much fun you created whenever you were around. Oh, and I still have "GO BEARS" written in chalk on my garage floor from the last time you were at my house. Miss you Grumpy!

My dearest friend Grumpy,
I am so thankful for our friendship and so thankful to have had you in my life. You were always there for me when I needed you and even when I didn't think I did. You were an amazing friend helping me get through my medical drama over the last year and I remember what you told me on my birthday this year - that you didn't know what you would do if something happened to me...now I am left here to try and figure that out with you being the one that is gone. You were my Gopher Buddy and I'll never forget going to the Metrodome to watch Gopher Softball and how hard we laughed - where did that girly scream from you come from anyway?! Our friendship was an honest one where we were never afraid to be tough on eachother and tell it like it is. You were an absolute blessing to have in my life. I miss you my friend, but know someday I will see you again.

We knew little that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

I spent time with Cheryl while she was living with my sister and her family and many other times! She always wanted people think she was "grumpy" she was so NOT that person...I know she loved my nephews and others children too. I found out just the other day that she made salsa! She was an all around great gal! She was taken way too soon!!! I will miss you Cheryl!
