My dad was LaVerne’s adopted brother, but both of them considered the other to be a real sibling, and I am confident that they are both together once again. As kids growing up, I have many happy memories of times spent with LaVerne and Bill, Fern and Max and their family, and the rest of the Dietzes. Later on, I was fortunate to be able to spend more time with her when she would visit my sister’s house during the holidays. We never lacked for anything to talk about when Aunt LaVerne was around! LaVerne was a very special lady. She was more widely-read, knew more, and could express her point of view better than most of the college students I taught during my career. She also had a quick wit and a compassionate heart. Prov and I express our condolences to Fran and her family and to LaVerne’s many other relatives and friends. Aunt LaVerne, we will all miss you!
