Obituary of Alvin Nelson

STERLING- Alvin A. Nelson, 79, of Sterling, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at his home. Alvin was born November 28, 1934, in Chicago, to Hubert and Anne (Meisel) Nelson. He served in the United States Army, and married Betty (Gardner) Nelson on June 22, 1959 in Glenview. He lived in Glenview for 39 years before moving to Sterling, and was a member of the 180 Church in Sterling. Survivors include his wife, Betty; one daughter, Nancy (Jeff) Moran, of Northbrook; two sons, Bruce (Sarah) Nelson, of Nelson, New Zealand, and Tom (Judy) Nelson, of St. Charles; one sister, Dr. Candace (Dr. David) Zeigler; two brothers, Major General Ronald K. (Marian) Nelson, and Perry S. (Clare) Nelson; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Heather Uber. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014, 1 PM at 180 Church at 12950 Lawrence Road, in Sterling, with Pastor Paul Sheely officiating.
