Please accept my condolences on the death of your mother. I last saw her a year ago at my mother's funeral on a bitter cold day in Sterling. Nevertheless she braved the cold and we so appreciated her presence. Your mother was a great lady and I always enjoyed our visits. She was faithful in keeping in touch with mother once she moved to VA and then with Jane and me to St. George, UT. I know you wil miss her. She was very proud of all of you. Thinking of all of you, Kay Gebhart Ackerman

Our deepest sympathy to the whole family. Jean truly made Grandpa happy - thank you. We enjoyed having her at our house for special occasions, especially corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day! Also, her cheesecake was always a welcome surprise. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Debra and Family (I planned to attend the visitation and service, but became ill with the flu during the night.)

We "loved" your mom - so many wonderful memories we have to cherish: Irish setter puppies, life on Locust Street, church, baby-sitting our children, Republican efforts, oh, I know we aren't remembering all that we should; our compassionate hearts pour out to you - wish we could be there - we are here in McKinney, TX sending our love and comforting wishes to all of you. My sincere sympathy to all of you in the passing of you mother. I was in Republican Womens Club and belonged to Rock River County Club with your mom. I enjoyed listening to her on WSDR Radio , The Conversation program where she expressed her opinions with Tom Davis, the owner of the radio station and the listeners, She was very knowledgeable and I always learned something from her . I also remember when she hosted the radio recipe show where she shared her many recipes. She lived a good long life and will be missed by many of us. My sincere sympathy! I will not be able to attend her memorial service as I am in Florida on vacation. Friend Pat Glafka

Nancy and Larry Tooker posted a condolence
Tuesday, January 10, 2012
My late in-laws, Larry and Mabel Dawes Tooker, went to college with Jean and Howard at Dubuque. The folks lived on the east coast, but on one of their many trips to visit us over the years, their path crossed with your parents and they were able to have a little chat. I ran into Jean at CGH not too long ago; she was waiting for the van to pick her up and I reintroduced myself. She remembered Mabel and Larry...I thought she looked very good and told her so. Please know you have our deepest sympathy; Jean died in the fullness of her years, but no one is EVER ready to say goodbye to your mom.
