I will miss my friend Wally more than words can describe. He wasn't only my best friends father, he was also my friend and like a second father to me. He never failed to brighten my day when ever I saw him. He always had an enormous smile on his face and an amusing story to tell. I could sit and talk with him for hours and never get tired of his company. He was the kindest and most considerate person I ever met. I'll never forget our trip to Springfield when he was helping me get my drivers license back. On our way home we stopped at Steak n Shake outside of Peoria and Wally ordered his burger well done, when they brought it to him he sent it back and told them to burn it, and that he liked it black, well it took 2 or 3 times for them to get it seared well enough for Wally. The look on their faces when he told them to burn it black was priceless. Then we got lost on our way home, I don't know how or where we turned wrong but we didn't arrive home until late that night. My wife read me the riot act at the time, and I imagine Shirley was none to happy with Wally either. That was a special day for me, because it was a day that I got to spend with Wally, just him and I. I learned so much from being around Wally, If I can be a fourth of the man he was I'll consider myself lucky. I love Wallace and the entire Feldman family.

Wally will forever be in my heart and mind. He always had that big old grin on his face and always knew how to brighten the darkest days. I am blessed to have known him and even more blessed to have had him and the entire Feldman family in my life. He truly was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is and will continue to be missed for the rest of my life.

I knew Wally for the entire time that I was an attorney in Sterling, lo these many years ago. He was a friend and a kind and helpful teacher to me, especially in the beginning of my career. I know he was like with others and I don't think I ever heard him say an unkind word about anyone. It's been close to 25 years since I saw him, and I wish now I had not been so neglectful about it.

I was blessed to grow up around the Feldmans. Weather we were relaxing by the pool, going to a Cubs game, or sneaking peanut butter out of the jar late at night, I could count on friendship, guidance, and humor from Wally. He was like a second father, and my life was richer to have him in it. Wally could accomplish more with a joke or story than most people could with a sermon, and I learned alot from him in this way. I will truly miss him.

Dear Shirley and Family,
My mom let me know last night about Wally's passing. I have some great memories of the many times I spent going to Emil's with my mom and dad. Every Sunday morning I used to go there with my dad as he visited with Emil and I would either hang out in the back or go look through the store. Many times Wally was there or I would see him at the store. We also spent many times at his parents house. Wally was by far always the happiest man you could run into. Always smiling and always making you feel welcomed. I know my parents cherished his parents friendship as well as you and Wally's, Shirley. My dad loved Wally and I always heard the greatest compliments when he spoke of him. I wish he were alive to tell him that I still have every Kennedy half dollar his dad gave me when I was growing up. A sign of what a generous man. I have kept them so I can give them to my sons to pass on a small part of what it was like growing up knowing such a wonderful family and of my fond memories of the many times I spent in Emil's. My sincere thougths are with you, as I know Wally will leave a great void in all of your hearts with his passing.

I heard of Wally's passing on Sunday afternoon and know that the world just lost one of the funniest and sweetest souls. When my husband and I moved to Sterling in 1974 as a newly wed couple, Wally and Shirley were the first to welcome us. Not long after we had a son and Wally and Shirley became our "adopted" grandparents. Wally would play with Joel when Shirley babysat and I believe he loved Joel as a grandfather would. He always had a smile and a story to tell. I will miss him, but so glad that he played a part in my life. May his memory be a blessing to all of us.
