Obituary of Louis Ukena

STERLING- Louis O. Ukena, 83, of Sterling, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at CGH Medical Center. Louis was born on October 23, 1931, in Dixon, the son of Ommo and Anna (Schuster) Ukena. He married Lois Baer on February 19, 1956 in Sterling. Louis was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Lois; two daughters, Ann Kennedy, of Dixon, and Cindy (Randy) McCune, of Tolono; two sons, John (Jill VanDevelde) Ukena, and Ron Ukena, both of Sterling; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Frederick Ukena. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling, with Pastor Brandon Nelson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2015 from 3 PM to 7 PM, at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. Burial will be at Genesee Township Cemetery, Sterling. A memorial has been established.
