It was a friday or saturday night and I was working 11-7 at the Sterling P.D. I was dispatched to an alley of a local bar where a large fight was reported. When I arrived there were several small fights going on and probably over 100 people in the area. I was the only officer on the scene at the time. As I exited the squad I noticed John right away, he was never to hard to pick out of a crowd,he wasn't involved in the fighting , but was just in the area. At this time I had knew John for years and always had a good friendly rapport with him and considered him a friend. As i attempted to break up the fights, I noticed as i moved from one area to the next I had John following close behind, finally other officers showed up and I remember hearing one of the officers telling John to clear from the area. he responded " I will leave when James tells me he's ok" this speaks volumes of John's character and friendship, he was truly my back up that night. Jenny & Family: you all are in our prayers & thoughts! While pain and sorrow have your hearts at the loss of your husband,father, brother,son and of our friend John,We hope as days pass you start to heal the heart,with the wonderful memories and stories you have to recall. The littlest thing that bring a smile to your face when it reminds you that John used to do that,say that and you will know it's his way of saying "hey I'm here with you!"
