Dear Julie, Brock and Zach, You have our deepest sympathies with the loss of your fine husband and father. Julie, I think I only met you once at an Iowa State tailgate with Bob. I went to college with Bob more than 30 years ago. In reading the condolences from your friends and colleagues, it is abundantly clear that Bob lived his life as the same sincere, hard working, honest and kind man that I came to know at Iowa State in Beyer Hall in 1974. I have been in disbelief over his sudden illness and death since hearing about it on Sunday. I had business travel this week that caused me to miss his funeral to share my condolences in person. Our prayers will be with all of you and Bob forever.

After my wife and I got married and moved to Sterling, Bob was one of the best guys anyone new in town could have run into. Right away you could tell how much he cared for people, especially his family. For the short time that we knew Bob, it really is a tragic loss, and we are terribly sorry for that. We have been, and will continue to keep you in our prayers. -Brendon and Mackenzie ODonnell

Bob and I had the opportunity to visit at this summer's 35th reunion of Lanark High School's class of 1974. This was the first time in many years that we had seen each other, but I often thought of Bob when I would drive through Sterling on my way to/from my parents home from my home in the Quad Cities. What I will remember is his optimistic spirit and his willingness to engage in conversation with anyone. As I read the article in your local paper, I offer to Bob and his family, A life well lived. Way to go, Bob. Blessings to your family as they deal with their loss of your presence.

Dear Woessner Family, I am deeply sorry to hear of passing of Bob. Bob was my insurance agent for about 3 years after my mother had switched to him. Making that switch was the greatest move ever, I am honored to have been able to have known Bob. Currently I attended college in Michigan and he made sure that I was all set up for my move and always stopped to ask me questions about school. Bob had a heart, a heart that he would take time to chat with you, and the greatest thing about that.....he would remember our conversations. I send my condolences back to Sterling and keep Bob's family and friends in my prayers. God Bless.

We are in complete shock at this time, as I am sure many of you are as well. Bob has been my insurance man for the past 3 yrs, since I moved to the Sterling area. He has been my husbands for many, many years. Bob helped me with transferring my 401k from my previous job into more profitable stocks. He always took the time to sit and talk with us; we never felt rushed or "unaware" of how our finances were being handled. He also stayed late one Friday night helping us with "party" insurance for a hall we rented (2.5 hrs away) for my son's HS graduation party. He was so calm and cool, and I was freaking out. Luckily, he talked to the woman at the hall (she never mentioned we needed a certain insurance ahead of time) and he reassured her repeatedly that we had insurance to cover the event. Thank goodness. Two months later, when we got married at the same hall - Bob had it all under control. He had the proper paper work completed weeks ahead of schedule, which made the woman at the hall very happy, and made our day more enjoyable. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. This is never easy and its hard to loose a parent when you're a child. I lost my dad when I was young, so I am all too familiar with this. Stay Strong & God Bless. Thanks Bob for being a great person! You will be sadly missed.

Mrs. Woessner, I knew Bob only for only a short time through the Sterling Rock Falls Mens Club. He gave his time to make sure kids were given an opportunity to go to college. His generosity will be missed. When I think of Bob I am reminded of The Parable Of The Talents. Matthew 25:21 His Lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord. God bless you and your children Chad Stoudt

Julie and family, Please accept my sincerest condolences during this very difficult time. My heart goes out to you and your entire family. Bob and I have been good friends since 5th grade, and while the years and miles have served to limit visits to every 5 years or so, I have always considered Bob a great friend. Like many other people in this area, we have during the past several years experienced some difficult times because of employer closings and shutdowns. In these situations, it's necessary to sit down with your insurance agent and make changes, or at least make sure that things are correctly structured. Bob was a counselor to us during these difficult times, not just an insurance agent. I can still hear him saying, "I think you're going to come through this all right. You & Judy lead a frugal lifestyle." He was right. In 2007, Bob was providing some good advice on local advertising when we were getting insurance for the small business we had started--so, with his help, we did indeed come through all right. Also, during more than one of our conversations, Bob made a point of paying a great deal of credit to his staff at the office. I know they will miss him, and so will Judy & I. Please know that you will be in our thoughts during this season.
