Obituary of Donald Ebersole

DONALD E. EBERSOLE STERLING - Donald E. Ebersole, 93, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He farmed in the area most of his life. Donald was also a livestock dealer, an auctioneer and a real estate broker. Donald was born January 26, 1919 in Sterling, the son of Lloyd and Rhoda (Long) Ebersole. He married Marjorie E. Alshouse on January 24, 1943 in Freeport. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2012. Donald was a member of Science Ridge Mennonite Church in Sterling. He enjoyed basketball, softball and coaching. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Vietmeier, of Buffalo Grove, and Debra Lynn Ebersole, of Sterling; six sons, Dennis (Linda Kay) Ebersole, of Rock Falls, Donald (Linda Kay) Ebersole, of Polo, Larry (Linda Kay) Ebersole and Brian (Lynette) Ebersole, both of Sterling, Stephen (Sherrie) Ebersole of Durant, IA, and Bradley L. Ebersole, of Milledgeville; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother, David Ebersole, and one grandson, Mike Ebersole. Services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, July 20, 2012, at Science Ridge Mennonite Church in Sterling with Pastor Arnold Owens and Pastor David Schrader, co-officiating. Burial will be at the Science Ridge Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM, Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
